Minutes of previous meeting

Site Adoption

Louise reiterated that the site is not adopted. Nothing will change until the conclusion of the court case. Louise has spoken to Guillermo about the possibility of the court case concluding in September he has yet to get back to her.

Promotional sign by Altamira

Louise has spoken to the council they are pursuing Altamira to see if they are putting in an application for a license, however if the sign is on Altamira land the council will not object. Louise has made the point that the sign is in the wrong place to be seen by the general public and all agreed it is unsightly.

Paul Trunchion had made a complaint to the council about the sign and was told that the incident is closed.

Update on site work by the council

Peter Whitbread was thanked for all the work he has done. He took the Deputy Mayoress and a member of the tech department around the site to all areas that needed attention. It was noted that lots of work has been done since and Peter will not be pursuing the council any further until October when the work will need doing again. It is unclear due to the elections who we will need to approach at the council. The Deputy Mayoress has now stated that we cannot use weed killer ourselves even the approved brand unless we have attended a course at the town hall which is in Spanish.

In the meantime, we could pay Miguel who is authorised, but we would have to pay him.

The situation with us using the council strimmer’s is unclear at present and it is hoped that the council will continue to do this.

The council are replacing the site plan in the new noticeboard for one which is weatherproof they will also allow us a set of keys for Pete Whitbread and will allow us to have keys cut as long as we use discretion. It was agreed that other material for the notice board could be educational material and upcoming events in Gata.

Dog Fouling signage

Louise has spoken to the council about signage however she has not had a reply. Paul Trunchion has however put up some small signs.

Local Election Update

There were 13 seats available on the local council but no one party got a majority. Talks are in place now for a possible coalition and we await the outcome which has to be done by 16th – 17th June. It is hoped that all parties will be working in the best interests of the village.

What was clear as a result of the PSOE meeting is that many residents on Gata were unable to vote as they are not registered. This is simple to be rectified by going to the Town Hall and asking to be put on the register to vote and all residents are urged to do so.

AOB

Just a reminder for people to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. If there is no room for your rubbish it is not appropriate to leave it by the bins. Rubbish can be disposed of at the eco park you will need proof of your address. Alternatively, Sol Gata will collect large items left by the bins if you contact them to arrange this.

If you live next to an empty property and the pool has stagnant water in it, you can inform the council as it may be a mosquito threat.

The next meeting is 14/7/19
