Walk 5: Jan 2019 Beniarbeig and Beyond

36 people and 7 dogs joined us for this, first walk of 2019 and the weather was almost perfect except for a strong wind as we reached higher ground. This picturesque walk started from the secondary school in Beniarbeig and towards the base of the Segaria Ridge and into the campo following a circular route passed an interesting Gaudi-like decorated house, the local cemetery and a serious petanque match in front of the pensionista’s café. The route then crosses the Girona River via the footbridge. It then goes under the new bridge, replaced after it collapsed in the Gota Fria of 2007.

It then goes into the new park where we stopped for a photo in front of the reconstructed old bridge. Crossing the river again, using the “block” walkway, we follow the road that goes into the orange trees, we divert into the groves themselves. Finally, we cross the Beniarbeig to Benidoleig road onto a wide path which ultimately lead back to the school.

Throughout there are good views of the Segaria Ridge, the Montgo and the Beniarbeig campo.
