Introductions.

This is the first meeting since Covid restrictions were lifted.

Issues

  1. Bins :- the bins on Gata Residential are the responsibility of Sol Gata. It was acknowledged that this is an ongoing problem.
  2. Toni the vice mayor is having a meeting with Sol Gata tomorrow 21/7/2022 to try and improve the current situation. The bins will not be moved at this time, but extra bins will be requested. Toni does not have responsibility for the bins they come under the mayor’s remit, however Toni will try and help to relieve the situation however he cannot make any decisions.

It was acknowledged that there will be the seasonal problems with renters dumping rubbish with no recycling.

Paul Trunchion has been to the town hall he wants bigger signs for the bins and he along with his neighbours have started a petition because of the issues with noise and the health hazards of having the bins across from their properties.

Paul also had an issue with collection of bins at 5am. Louise pointed out that they have to be collected at some time and it is never going to suit everybody. She has been told the underground bins will return, but recycling bins will remain above ground.

Paul still challenges why there cannot be a single point for the bins. It was stated that the urbanisation is too large, and this issue was dealt with at the AGM.

  1. Cockcroaches :-  The urbanisation has now been sprayed but it took some time. Louise pointed out that individual households can deal with the issue in their own properties however she will raise this with Toni.
  1. Manhole Covers :-  It was acknowledged that these are noisy when people drive over them. The Town Hall have been asked to fix them, but this will not happen till after fiesta week in August. Louise will ask them to check for ones that are stuck. More speed bumps could be put in to help control speeding. Whilst it was pointed out that the roundabout at the bins is being ignored it was acknowledged that other than road signage it is down to individual drivers to adhere to the rules of the road.
  1. Post boxes :-  The issues are that some houses do not have individual boxes which Peter Bayliss suggested should come out of the AVAL money. Ann Williams also asked about repairs to the existing boxes.

Toni is meeting with Correos tomorrow and will have more information after this however the council has no jurisdiction over the postal system as Correos is a private company. Correos have been provided with maps and photos to explain which house corresponds with which box so that mail delivery can be improved. The final say over everything however will be down to Correos.

  1. Lights on Pins and Tarrongers :- Toni has apologised that some of the street lights are on for an extra 4 hours. There are issues with no lights in the park encouraging youths to gather. Iberdrola are doing a survey. Maintenance of the parks is down to Sol Gata. Toni is dealing with the weeding of the roads and the wild areas but should have more information after his meeting. Paul Trunchion stated they had done a good job at the bottom of Tarrongers. Quotes have been obtained for the Carob tree at the roundabout to be pruned and we will vote on that when quotes are in. John Byford pointed out that the weeds in 12B are the responsibility of the house owners not the council.
  1. Adoption of Gata Residential :- Miguel the architect states that there is a problem with the services which run through some existing houses so a new service road has to be built. Toni has stated he is not giving up but things will take longer than anticipated. Toni does not think that there is enough money in the AVAL to cover the remaining works but has stressed that we are not to worry. He estimates the adoption process will take approximately 3.5 years. The minimum works will be replacing the wooden steps, the service road and solving the drainage problems. Louise will try and clarify the position with the AVAL.
  1. Any Other Business :- The frame at the bottom of Tarrongers on the concrete block needs removing, Louise will chase this up.

Paul Trunchion asked about helping to increase membership of the Amigos de Gata and it was felt that this could be done by individuals passing the word around.
