SUMMARY OF MEETING

  1.  GARDENING OF OVERGROWN AREAS

The  garden company subcontracted by the council  and Gata council workers have started the clearing process around our estate. Toni advises there are two phases to this work.

Phase l has already begun. They have commenced with the olive trees at the top entrance and also on Garrofers the bottom road from Gata. This includes the removing of weeds in the gravel and path, when the weeds have been removed the next day they will spray the area with weed killer. Toni stated that this is not the ideal time to prune trees as this may cause them  to go into shock or die. Toni has stipulated that if any tree dies it will be replaced.

Phase 2.  Trees, Parks.

The council are still waiting for one other tender to come in. Toni will keep us updated. The approved company will then start the work. When it has been completed the council will then maintain all the areas.

  1. NOTICEBOARD AND SIGNAGE

The Council are still awaiting one more quote for the entrance notice board, Quotes are ranging from 400/700 euro.

There will be a signpost from the Lliber road giving directions to Urb Gata Residencial. This will be in Valenciano (this is due to recent cases of vandalism to road signs) .

Road Markings

Repainting of road markings will be on hold as this falls under the current ongoing court case.

Dog  Fouling Signage

Toni stated that he hopes to have this signage available in a month’s time. All signage is now undertaken by one company.

  1. PARKS AND MOTORBIKES

The council is currently awaiting tender responses from companies interested in repairing the furniture in all the parks including those here in Gata Residencial. These repairs will be carried out next year. Subsequent maintenance will be undertaken by the Town Hall.

  1. POLICE ISSUES

The speed bumps at the top exit were installed on the initiative of the Pedreguer Local Police to prevent accidents caused by motorists coming from Gata Residencial speeding round the blind bend. Toni stated that speed bumps on one side of the road are clearly not a good solution but although he can ask them to consider a change, these speed bumps are outside of his jurisdiction. He will keep us informed of his progress with  the Pedreguer Police and Council on this matter.

The Police have given the motorcyclists who were dealing marijuana in the park a warning.

Toni would like to express his thanks to the resident who called the police on seeing one of the empty houses being broken into. The police were able to act swiftly to prevent the house being occupied. If this had not been dealt with promptly, squatters might also have moved in to other houses.

  1. POST BOXES FOR GATA PARK

The six houses on M17 and also all those on M21 are still without mailboxes on Gata Residencial. Toni will raise this issue with the Correos, however he thinks the easy solution is to look for empty boxes in the current post boxes near these houses.

  1. COMPOSTING SCHEME

Toni has stated this is on hold for a little longer as the Diputacion de Alicante are very interested in this project and want to work with Gata Council on this but are exploring introduction in other areas outside of Gata.

  1. COCK ROACH SPRAYING

I asked Toni to instruct  Sol Gata to spray the previously excluded drains in Carrer Olives

  1. STREET LIGHTS ON GARROFERS

I raised with Toni the issue of the lights on Garrofers which have not been working although; it is possible that this may not have been reported by the residents. This was swiftly resolved and the lights are now functional.

  1. COURT CASE

No further update at this time.
